More Looks at Schrager's Chrystie Street Hotel/Condo Tower

New, 8 comments

Two more renderings have been revealed for hotelier Ian Schrager's latest project at 215 Chrystie Street in the Lower East Side. Herzog & de Meuron is designing the 28-story building, and reps sent along a close-up look at the facade on the condo floors, giving a peak at the John Pawson-designed interiors. The homes will have large floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the building's corners, providing "extremely rare unobstructed 270 and 360 degree views of the city. It will be like living in the clouds." Except the building only rises 314 feet, so, uh, probably not.

New York YIMBY spotted a full rendering, which shows smaller windows on the hotel floors and an outdoor terrace on the 10th floor setback. The building appears to be clad with some type of masonry, putting it leagues above many new projects in the LES, design-wise.

A teaser site—which quotes Leonardo da Vinci—is up for the condos, and the sales office will open on the ground floor of 51 Astor Place in mid-July.
