Colonial House in 'the Hamptons of Queens' Wants $4.3M

New, 10 comments

Our weekly feature, Monday Mansion, examines the most interesting mega homes on the market in the far reaches of New York. Have a listing in mind that we're missing? Tell us about it. To the outer boroughs we go!

Who needs the Hamptons when there's real estate available in a the almost-sounds-like-a-country-in-the-Mediterranean-Sea neighborhood of Malba, Queens—a place one broker describes as "the Hamptons of Queens." Tucked beside the Whitestone Bridge on the shore of the East River's Powell Cove, Malba is like the Hamptons in that there's a nearby body of water and they're both on Long Island—and that's about it. But hey, playing make-believe is always fun, so here's a four-bedroom colonial with water views at 122 Malba Drive (to be fair, this listing eschews any mention of the Hamptons, so there's a chance it's even less beach-like than this place). It has two working fireplace and a lovely yard filled with trees, but a bunch of dated floral patterns attacked the interiors. Asking price is $4.288 million.
