Trash Clash

Garbage-hating residents of Brooklyn and Manhattan joined forces Sunday to protest the city's plans for marine transfer stations in South Brooklyn and the Upper East Side. In Gravesend Bay, people worry that dredging will stir up toxic chemicals left by an old incinerator, and at both locations, people are super concerned about garbage truck traffic. A lawsuit has been filed against the city's whole waste management plan, which could halt both stations. [NY1; previously]
