Cantilevering Flatiron Tower Reveals New Render, More Details

New, 7 comments

Preliminary renderings of Bruce Eichner's cantilevering Flatiron condo tower were revealed in April, but now there's an official, this-is-definitely-what-it-will-look-like rendering (click for big), sent straight to Curbed from the marketing team. The new rendering shows that the building, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, has a five-story stone base and a tapering glass tower that gets slightly wider as it gets taller. Located between Broadway and Park Avenue South, the tower cantilevers 17 feet over the neighbor and rises a total of 64 stories and 777 feet (previous reports had placed it from 718 to 800)—so that puts it 152 feet taller than One Madison. Reps also say that the building's official address will be 45 East 22nd Street, not 41 East 22nd Street.

In addition to the height increasing slightly, the number of condos has also increased from previous reports. There will be 83 units, not 81, and they will range from one- to four-bedrooms. No details about the interiors have been revealed, except to say that there will be "multiple amenity floors." Sales are expected to launch this fall, and the building should be ready for occupancy by 2016. Work is underway at the site, though nothing has started rising yet.
