Why Steven Soderbergh Is Selling Not One, But Two, NYC Pads

New, 2 comments

In the celebrity real estate equivalent of a double whammy, director Steven Soderbergh just put two apartments on the market. The Daily News reports that he wants to doff a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment (above) at Tribeca's 155 Franklin, which is rumored to be home to Taylor Swift and Orlando Bloom, for $6 million. An odd choice, considering he bought the place for $130,000 less than that less than a year ago—knowing full well a gut renovation was sorely needed. But maybe the Swift/Bloom barrage meant too many big egos names for one little address.

Then there's Soderbergh's full-floor 3BR at 147 West 22nd Street in Chelsea, which hit the market today asking $5 million. A bedroom is separated by a pretty nifty retractable, garage door-like divider.

As per a tipster: "Steven and and his wife Jules Asner didn't like the chaos at 155 Franklin from all the taylor swift-ness in the building--so they bought a different apartment in tribeca last month that was never listed. their new apt is amazing. they also just listed their full floor apartment on 22nd street in chelsea that they've owned for a decade."

So it seems unlike Alec Baldwin, Soderbergh hasn't had enough of the city just yet—he just wants to enjoy it from a new perch in Tribeca. Any clues as to where that might be? Hit up the tipline.
