Make Your Own Floorplan; 85 Percent of Renters 'Burdened'

New, 8 comments

TRIBECA—The uncombined 10th floor of One York is having a hard time selling, so to help it along, its brokers at Urban Compass came up with a fun idea of including a little quiz with the listing that tells you what kind of rich person you are and creates your ideal floorplan based on your answers. We're not sure how accurate it is, but we'd definitely live in that apartment, so in that sense it works. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]

EVERYWHERE—A new study conducted by roommate site SpareRoom.com revealed that, out of 1,000 renters surveyed, 85 percent were "rent-burdened" and 61 percent were "severely rent-burdened," according to standards outlined in Mayor de Blasio's affordable housing plan (PDF). When asked the question, "After tax and deductions how much of your take home pay goes on your rent?" 27 percent of respondents answered, "More than two thirds," while 34 percent answered, "Half to two thirds." Only 15 percent spent less than a third. [CurbedWire Inbox]
