Brooklyn Nets Training Facility Planned for Sunset Park

New, 2 comments

The Brooklyn Nets are officially moving their practice facility to Brooklyn. The team unveiled plans today for a 70,000-square-foot training facility at Industry City on the Sunset Park waterfront. It was rumored that the team might be moving to the complex last year, but Industry City said the move "wasn't a sure thing." According to Nets Daily and information sent from the team's press office, the practice space will be called the Hospital for Special Surgery Training Center (the Hospital for Special Surgery is the "naming rights partner" and official team hospital), and it will be located on the eighth and ninth floors of former warehouse at 148 39th Street. Construction will begin this year, and it should be operable for the 2015-16 NBA season.

MANICA Architecture designed the space, which includes two full basketball courts, a weight room, a training pool, two hydro pools, a rooftop terrace, an 18-seat multimedia theater, 3,000 square feet of lounge space, and a media room. The facility will host community events, youth basketball clinics, and be available to local businesses.
