A demand for "particle-free" living is pushing developers to include very expensive air purification systems in their projects. Take 155 East 79th Street, where the developers boast that the building's ventilation technology "first cleanses air via a hospital operating-room-grade purification system and then brings the fresh filtered result into each unit." Prices typically range from $4,500 for an apartment-sized system and ductwork to about $10,000 for a very large home, while a large system for an apartment building can cost more than $1 million. Naturally, the Delos building is all over this. [WSJ]
