Construction Underway on Mixed-Use Orchard Street Building

It has been a long journey for 119 Orchard Street, the site that is now home to an under-construction 10-story hotel/apartment building. The developers, SAS Property Management, first planned a 40-unit hotel, demolishing the existing tenement building in 2010, but then revised their plans to 16 hotel rooms and four apartments. (Considering that both versions of the plan called for the same building height, those apartments are going to be quite large — three full-floor pads, and a two-full-floor duplex penthouse on top.) There will also be an "eating and drinking establishment" below ground and an "ambulatory diagnostic or treatment healthcare facility" on the first floor, according to permits.

BuzzBuzz Home reports — and proves, via photographs — that construction is well underway on the Arnold Montag Architect-designed building, which features a pretty uninspiring facade of multi-hued bricks. The retail portion of the project is currently being marketed by Keller Williams, according to on-site signage.
