New York City currently has 807 "zombie properties," meaning those that are abandoned by their owners as well as banks so that they never go through the foreclosure process. They're concentrated in Brooklyn (250) and Queens (220), and, unsurprisingly, neighbors hate them. Said one particularly disgruntled one in St. Albans, Queens: "We had kids hanging out, squatters in there, and they even tried to turn it into a brothel." So beware the zombie homes. [NYP]
