Some good news for those fighting to preserve the deteriorating New York State Pavilion, a World's Fair relic in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The city's newly approved budget includes $5.8 million to spiff up its 50-year-old electrical system. In addition, staircases in the three towers as well as concrete platforms supporting the observation decks will be repaired. Mind you, it's the first step, since a total reno would cost at least $43M, but it's a promising one. [NYDN; previously]
