Sprawling Oceanfront Villa in Brighton Beach Returns for $8M

New, 11 comments

Our weekly feature, Monday Mansion, examines the most interesting mega homes on the market in the far reaches of New York. Have a listing in mind that we're missing? Tell us about it. To the outer boroughs we go!

An infinity pool with a cabana and a hot tub, 170-feet of private oceanfront, a two-car garage, 17,000 square feet of private property—none of these features sound like they belong to a property in Brooklyn, but this sprawling Brighton Beach mansion has them all. The gated compound, which would be right at home in Miami, is located at 296 West End Avenue, and it just hit the market for $8 million. The 6,000-square-foot megahome was listed back in 2012 for $9.75 million, but then Hurricane Sandy hit. The house sustained some damage, but interested buyers need not worry; the Daily News says the owners installed storm-proof doors, and the Army Corps of Engineers erected a waterfront storm barrier. So not only is the home stronger than before, but it's also $1.75 million cheaper.
