It looks like the iconic Kentile Floors sign is about to go live on a farm upstate where all good signs go to play together when they've, uh, overstayed their welcomes. No, we will not be able to visit.
Multiple tipsters noticed scaffolding going up around the sign last night, and a Department of Buildings permit issued last month appears to confirm that the worst is true. Gothamist reached out to the owner of the engineering company on the permit as well as a rep for the building owners, both of whom were evasive. The rep, Bryan Kanarek of BKR Partners, was quoted last February saying, "The sign's not going anywhere. We love the sign. We have a lot of respect for it." So... whoops.
