Now, the latest from Racked NY, shopping and retail from the sidewalks up...
1) Financial District: Westfield World Trade Center will welcome the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund as one of its occupants, with a pop-up shop opening next year in the mall's Oculus area.
2) East Rutherford: Will the Meadowlands complex soon be home to the world's biggest wave pool? If the American Dream Meadowlands Mall is actually built, quite possibly, yes. With a slated opening in 2016 and no signs of construction, officials continue to insist that the mega-project is right on schedule.
3) Williamsburg: With the launch of Levi's fifth collection of men's urban cycling attire, the brand is launching a pop-up work space at 261 Metropolitan Avenue, where visitors can indulge in "free WiFi and work areas, Grady's Cold Brew coffee, complimentary bike tune-ups and washes by local mechanics, denim repair and tailoring, plus the opportunity to purchase the latest Commuter collection via on-site iPads."
4) All Over: This week, every single Crumbs Bake Shop across the city and elsewhere shuttered its doors, whilst giving employees no prior notice of their fate. The Wall Street Journal explains the mass extinction: "Crumbs went public three years ago at the height of the gourmet-cupcake boom. Since then, its financial outlook has grown bleak amid several years of losses, a dwindling cash supply, and a food craze that is petering out."
