The effort to rename the West 121st Street block on which George Carlin grew up after him was complicated by opposition from his old church. "I don't think we have to open their minds to the debasement of the English language and attacks on religion," said the Reverend, at the time. So, a compromise was reached to rename the adjacent block instead, but now, due to a clerical error, a bill has been signed into law that renames both blocks. The legislators behind the error have promised to correct it, but in the meantime: hahahahahahahah— [NYT]
