Meet the residents of an unidentified loft building on Crosby Street. In a tale typical to buildings where the Loft Law applies, many residents moved in during the glory days of the 80s, when Soho's streets were seedy, rents were cheap, and landlords didn't bother to procure certificates of occupancy. Well, now rents are rising and one landlord is defending himself; meanwhile, his tenants, who want to keep their longtime homes (which they've spend $$ upgrading) are suing. [NYT; previously]
