The de Blasio administration is getting thrifty when it comes to its affordable housing plan: the city announced that it's lowering the price of a for-sale municipal parking lot in Flushing to $1 in order to persuade firms to develop a mixed-use building with affordable housing on the site. The city has issued a Request For Proposals for the 156-space lot on 41st Avenue near Main Street, and plan to rezone the lot to allow for nearly double the amount of housing currently permitted.
