Mr. Brainwash Mural in Williamsburg; Sculpture Competition

WILLIAMSBURG—Street artist Mr. Brainwash (of, amongst other things, Exit Through the Gift Shop fame) has designed a mural for the exterior of 250 North 10th Street. The mural faces Roebling Street and is in tribute to tribute to John Augustus Roebling, designer of the Brooklyn Bridge, and his son Charles Roebling, who completed construction on one of the US's oldest suspension bridges. The designer of the Williamsburg Bridge, Henry Hornbostel, is also included. [CurbedWire inbox; WSJ]

FLATIRON—In the midsts of summer, thinking about winter feels good. At least that's what the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership and Van Alen Institute are banking on: the group has announced the first Flatiron Plaza Holiday Design Competition, in which designers and architects will propose dynamic structures for installation in front of the Flatiron building for the 2014 winter season.
