The famous mural on East Houston and Bowery, which, in its three-decade history, has featured art from the likes of Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, and Os Gemeos, has been mostly disassembled and carted off, with the rest of it wrapped in tarp, ahead of a new building at the site. EV Grieve was on hand to get some pictures, ran into street art photographer Martha Cooper, and was able to confirm what the new building renderings suggest — the mural's disappearance is only temporary, and the entire thing will be reinstalled adjacent to the Gary H. Silver-designed two-story retail building that is coming to the site.
