Lady Liberty Watch

Google's Street View robot—okay, real-life man lugging a 40-pound camera and GPS system—is traversing Liberty Island. The Statue of Liberty joins the Eiffel Tower, Grand Canyon, and Mount Fuji among landmarks that are documented for mass internet consumption. Lady Liberty visitors gawked at the methodical picture-taking process, the end results of which won't be put online for months because of extensive editing: "You always see the images online, but you never see them actually capturing those pictures. Seeing the Google man with a crazy camera book bag made my day." [NYT; previously]
