215 Chrystie Street Mock-Up; Whitney To Host High Line Art

LOWER EAST SIDE—Herzog & de Meuron's newest project in New York City, a hotel and condo building at 215 Chrystie Street, has been revealed in renderings, but a tipster tells us that there's an even better sneak peek. The construction site is currently hosting a full-scale mock-up of the facade and windows, showing how the angled concrete columns will meet the floor plates. Ian Schrager is developing the 28-story building, which will hold a 370-room Public hotel on the lower floors, while the top floors will be occupied by a separate condo development with 11 units. MEATPACKING DISTRICT—The Whitney is teaming up with developer TF Cornerstone and the High Line to stage a series of art installations, starting this fall and continuing through spring 2015, when the new downtown museum opens. The works by "key American artists" will grace the face of TF Cornerstone's 95 Horatio Street, which is across Gansevoort from the new Whitney. The first one, "Katherine and Elizabeth" by Alex Katz, will be unveiled in September. [CurbedWire Inbox; previously]
