Penthouse at Richard Meier's Glassy 165 Charles Wants $35M

New, 22 comments

There's more than one glass box hitting the market Downtown today, and this one will likely have better luck finding a buyer, thanks to some starchitect cred. The penthouse in Richard Meier's 165 Charles Street is up for resale for the first time, asking a cool $35 million. Louise T. Blouin MacBain, a British art magazine publisher, purchased the duplex in December 2005 for for $20.605 million, and it doesn't appear that she renovated the unit at all in the last eight and a half years. The four-bedroom abode spans 4,500-square-feet and comes with an 1,800-square-foot wraparound terrace. When it sold in 2005, the Times called the $4,581 per-square-foot price "staggering"; it's now $7,690 per square foot.
