Irving Place Rental Near Gramercy Park Will, In Fact, Go Condo

Because apartments near Gramercy Park cost a whole truckload of moolah and set condo-sales records, a seven-story, 14-unit building near Gramercy Park is going down that road. BuzzBuzzHome reports that 78 Irving Place, located at the corner of that quaint thoroughfare and 19th Street, is undergoing a gut renovation after which its rentals will be no more. In their stead will come seven condos, designed by PKSB Architects. Last year developer Silverstone Property paid $17.9 million for the property, which comes with an adorable carriage house, sparking rumors of a condo conversion that have—surprise, surprise—come true. It's a landmark, so the overhaul will also come with a facade restoration but no significant exterior changes.
