33-Story Tower Gives DoBro More Apartments, Another Hotel

This Barclays Center-colored, 33-story tower will soon rise where a 100-year-old office building once stood in Downtown Brooklyn. New York YIMBY spotted a rendering by architecture firm Woods Bagot for the new skyline addition, which sits at the corner of Jay Street and Nassau Street near the Manhattan Bridge exit. Several addresses have been associated with the property (120 Nassau Street, 199 Jay Street, 203 Jay Street, and 213 Jay Street), and the new building will bring 381 apartments and 119 hotel rooms. It's unclear if the units will be condos or rentals, but filings with the Department of Buildings indicate that floors 2 through 8 will hold both hotel rooms and residential units, while the rest of the floors will be completely residential. Given the room breakdown and the fact that the rendering shows two distinct sections of the building, the hotel will likely be contained in the shorter part.

The site owner is Amtrust Realty, which purchased the site since 2006. The new building permits, filed at the beginning of July, are still pending with the DOB. According to the permits, the project will also create a public plaza, and the building will have bike storage, a 95-spot attended parking garage below grade, a fitness center, a community space, and roof terraces atop both sections of the building.
