Chelsea Antiques Garage Will Give Rise To Another Lame Hotel

New, 15 comments

The former home to Chelsea's Antiques Garage on West 25th Street between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue is not long for this world. YIMBY scored a first rendering for the 39-story Renaissance Hotel developer John Lam is bringing to 112 West 25th Street. The hotel will have 330 rooms spread over 177,513-square-feet. Although there is no official word, YIMBY speculates the hotel is designed by Nobutaka Ashihara, who has worked on other projects with the developer. Lam bought the property for $67.5 million in 2013 from former owner Extell, who had plans for a 29-story hotel on the site before financing went sour. Expect another glassy west side hotel by July 2017.
