Applicants for Affordable Greenpoint Units Have 0.2% Shot

They don't call it a lottery for nothing. The Daily News reports that 58,832 applications have been filed for the 105 affordable units in Greenpoint development 1133 Manhattan Avenue, which gives each of them a solid 0.178 percent chance of being selected. That's the highest number of applications for any affordable housing lottery this year, and "really underscores the urgency of the affordability problem in the city," according to Jonathan Miller. The building, which is being developed by Domain Companies and was designed by Navid Maqami of Perkins Eastman, will also include another 105 market-rate units.
