Flatbush's Loew's Kings Theater made news last year when it was announced that the gorgeous 1920s movie palace would finally be reopened and restored to her former glory. The renovation has been remarkable, and now, the plans have finally come to fruition. The theater will finally reopen in January 2015!
The Kings closed in 1977, but photographer Matt Lambros has chronicled the restoration since last year. According to a press release, the new Loew's Kings Theater will serve as both "a cultural and economic cornerstone for the Brooklyn community" and will have over 200 performances ever year, "including music, dance, theatre, and comedy." It will seat 3,000, making it Brooklyn's largest theater.
