New Department of Buildings permits, which pro-development blog New York YIMBY watches like a hawk, tell the tale of a new building that could be coming to a relatively low-rise stretch within Downtown Brooklyn. A mystery developer has filed to erect a 17-story structure with 37 apartments on Livingston Street. Located near Nevins Street, Flatbush Avenue, and BAM (among other things), the proposed development, designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group, would house 37,796 square feet of residential space plus a two-floor garage. To achieve that much space on such a small plotit's only 43 feet wide!it's likely that a) some other small buildings around No. 299 are going to be demoed as well, and b) that there will be an affordable housing component. Welp, more fuel for DoBro's housing boom.
