Say your goodbyes: scaffolding may be erected around the iconic Domino Sugar sign—the first action in a procession of removal procedures—as early as this week. But unlike the also beloved Kentile Floors sign, the yellow epithet has another public resting place in sight. Following its removal from the building (which NYDN says will be an uncertain process; no one knows how much the sign weighs, or how it is affixed), the sign will be transported to an undisclosed location, rehabilitated, and lay in wait until it can be erected atop the renovated refinery, which will become office space geared towards the creative and tech industries.
