First Look Inside SOM's Undulating 252 East 57th Street Tower

New, 17 comments

World Wide Group and Rose Associate's luxury tower at 252 (née 250) East 57th Street has maintained a pretty low profile throughout its development, considering its 57th Street locale and thus its apartments' inevitably outrageous price tags. Now the tower's full website launch gives the most substantial amount of info on and in-depth look into the SOM-designed building to-date. The tower will have an undulating glass facade, and will rise 65 stories. It's 93 condos will begin on the 36th floor, and be priced from $4.5 million. With newly revealed floorplans, the building's sales launch must be imminent. UPDATE: Ah, yup. Sales went live the following day.

Earlier reports speculated that the tower would also have 173 rentals, which are the likely occupants of the building's lower floors although nothing on the building's website says as much. The long-in-the-works tower—World Wide Group has been sitting on this lot for eight years—is a public-private venture. The tower is rising on the former site of a public school.
