See Plans For Tribeca's Combined Bogardus Garden and Plaza

A small triangular slice of land and a pedestrian plaza in Tribeca at West Broadway and Chambers Street are being combined to create a roughly 12,000-square-foot park. Plans for the unification of Bogardus Garden and Plaza got the okay from Community Board 1 earlier this week after months of the usual CB scuffling. The project, given the monkier Bogardus Park by Tribeca Citizen, will add an elevated stage that can be used for seating, egg-shaped chairs that pay homage to the neighborhood's history as an egg-and-butter supplier to the city, and some 2,670-square-feet total of greenery surrounded by cut granite walkways to the area, Tribeca Citizen reports. Prolific public space designer Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects will be in charge of the redesign.
