Gilded East 69th Street Mansion Drops Its Price to $98M

New, 24 comments

When the insanely lavish mansion at 12 East 69th Street hit the market for a mindboggling $114,077,000, the peanut gallery immediately called for the PriceChopper, and nine months later, here it is. The gilded 19-room home dropped its price to an even $98 million late last week, knocking it from the no. 2 spot to the no. 3 on the list of New York's most expensive homes. Owned and renovated by Vincent Viola, owner of the Florida Panthers NHL team, and his wife, the 20,000-square-foot house features onyx-clad bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a movie theater with a balcony, a dressing area that doubles as a panic room, a 2,000-square-foot rooftop deck, and a lot more.
