The decidedly international Oosten development that will occupy the whole block between Kent and Wythe avenues and South 8th and South 9th streets in Williamsburg is now on the market, asking from $710,000. The 216-apartment building with a 13,860-square-foot interior courtyard is the first ground-up American project by XIN Development Group, the U.S. branch of ubiquitous Chinese developer Xinyuan Real Estate Company. Notably, Dutch designer Piet Boon is responsible for the building's sleek and minimal interiors, and may have had some influence on the building's name; Oosten means "east" in Dutch. There are seven different kinds of apartments in the building: townhouses, duplexes, one-, two-, and three-bedrooms, lofts, and duplex penthouses. Several of the building's for-offer apartments are already in contract, including the $710,000 one-bedroom, and a $1.53 million two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom. The development is expected to be complete in 2016.

The building's amenities include a below-ground fitness center with a 55-foot pool and spa, and a landscaped rooftop with a reflecting pool, grills, and seating. Plans for the building also point to a ground-floor art gallery on Kent Avenue and South 9th Street.
