Any major overhaul or salvation for Penn Station is a long ways off, but in the meantime, the owner, Amtrak, and landlord, Vornado, are trying to jazz the joint up by kicking out fast food restaurants to make the place more like Grand Central, "a dining and retail venue to be sought, not a rail stop to be tolerated." Not an easy undertaking. When asked what his favorite dining spot is in Penn Station, an Amtrak bigwig actually laughed and instead of naming a place, said, "They do the best they can."
