The Fiscal Policy Institute is floating the idea that Mayor Bill de Blasio could raise a lot of money by levying a tax on the many expensive New York City apartments that do not function as full-time residences, also know as pieds-a-terre. The proposal could "generate $665 million a year for the city, the vast majority of it from owners of apartments worth more than $25 million a year." [Capital NY]
