A nice scoop from the Daily News reveals that developer Alma Realty is dealing with more than just requests for more affordable housing and better transit at the 1,700-unit complex they want to build on the Queens waterfront. For a separate construction site nearby on Vernon Boulevard, Alma hired a "scandal-scarred contractor," and Astoria Cove opponents are seizing on that misstep to argue that the City Council should think carefully before giving the project a green light in hearings next week.
