The Siempre Verde Garden on the Lower East Side just got its GreenThumb status from the city, with the hope that the three-lot parcel would become a permanent community garden in the neighborhood. Now, a year later, it's once again being threatened by development. William Gottlieb owns 137 Attorney Street and had made plans to combine it with the two city-owned lots at 181 Stanton and 139 Attorney, despite not doing anything about it for two years. Now, a plan for a 16-unit building are back on, and is set to go before Community Board 3 in October. [Bowery Boogie]
