It has been a long road from public elementary school to condo development to rentals for 371 Madison Street, formerly known as Madison Jackson and currently known as The School House. The building kicked off leasing today with units ranging in price from $2,900 to $4,500 hitting the rental market. Developer Thomas Sung hopes that the 117 "loft-style" (according to the press release) units, which were on the small side as condos, will be more attractive as rentals, and also that the "Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 2515 square-foot resident's lounge area, onsite laundry facilities, two outdoor courtyards and a doorman" will help. Brokerage Modern Spaces is handling the marketing and leasing, and this is their first Manhattan project.
Update: While all of the units are one-bedrooms, some have an additional room that could be used as a home office or a small second bedroom.
