Small Tribeca Cast-Iron Building May Get Garish Glass Topper

New, 4 comments

The Tribeca cast-iron building that formerly housed hip-hop impresario Damon Dash's DD172 nightclub may finally get the four-story glass residential addition that has been floating around for six years. The Vincenzo Polsinelli-designed topper for 172 Duane Street that garnered approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2008 has been granted an extension for the build. Now, the building's owner is permitted to bring the design to fruition until August 16, 2017; and it might seem they're making moves. An August 8 posting on the Department of Buildings website spotted by Tribeca Citizen says that permits have been filed and approved for foundation work.
