Cornerspotted: 27th Avenue and 9th Street in Astoria

This sunbather was relaxing on the lawn of 805 27th Avenue in Astoria when she was snapped by Berenice Abbott in 1937. Nowadays, the formerly pictured freestanding mansion with a gracious lawn appears to have been replaced by a larger apartment building. Which larger apartment building at the given intersection is pretty unidentifiable; the address no longer exists. If building residents today wanted to sun themselves on the lawn, they'd be confined to a rather slim strip surrounding the building which is probably verboten to enjoy.
