UPPER EAST SIDEThe Peter Pennoyer-designed under-construction condo building on East 78th Street has sold off another two units out of its 14. According to the Wall Street Journal, this time, it's two of the penthouse duplexes, A and C, which just sold for their respective asks: $29.5 million and $27.5 million. The duplexes are not adjacent or combinable, so it's not as if those sales could rival the most expensive in the city or anything, but still. On StreetEasy, 10 out of 11 available units are in contract. Need more evidence that the Upper East Side is booming? [WSJ; previously]
MIDTOWN EASTOn Tuesday, January 20, at 6:30 p.m., a group of people who know stuff will sit down at the venerable Museum of the City of New York to debate the following: "Is the Vanderbilt Corridor the Future of East Midtown?" Basically, megatower One Vanderbilt, set to rise near Grand Central, is going to infuse that area with both lots of people and construction but also transit improvements. So the zoning changes that would allow it to get built are being contended left and right. On the 20th, the chair of a community task force, One Vandy's architect, the Municipal Art Society's executive director, and a high-up from the Department of City Planning will duke it out discuss. Fun! [CurbedWire Inbox; official; previously]
