Forty Catholic parishes across New York City will be merged, meaning that dozens of properties will sit empty, possibly opening the door for real estate developers. Some properties will be kept, but plenty of "superfluous" sites like rectories and convents will likely be sold. A few sites that could be up for grabs include Our Lady of Peace at 237 East 62nd Street, St. Elizabeth of Hungary at 211 East 83rd Street (pictured), and St. Lucy's at 344 East 104th Street.
