The Chatsworth, a 111-year-old Beaux-Arts beauty at 344 West 72nd Street, begins a new chapter today. Developer HFZ Capital completely (and controversially) overhauled the former rental, turning the 137 units into 81 co-ops. The new units range from one- to five-bedrooms and include penthouses and garden-level townhouses, with prices starting at $1.995 million. Homes have coffered ceilings, herringbone floors, and open layouts, and the building's lobby has been overhauled, plus new amenity spaces were created. Work began last year, and the units should be ready for occupancy this summer. Currently, the smallest unit on the market is a 1,079-square-foot two-bedroom, while the largest is a 2,928-square-foot four-bedroom.
