This Multi-Colored Building Will Soon Rise in Bed-Stuy

New, 2 comments

Developer CS Management purchased the site occupied by the Weinstein hardware store at 420 Tompkins Avenue in 2006 for $1.065 million, and recently made its plans to tear down the store and replace it with a six-story, 44-unit building known. Now, Brownstoner has the first construction fence rendering for that building and it looks very...modern. The facade features an asymmetrical pattern of glass and panels of two other types of materials, with some sort of glassy accent at the top. It's certainly not taking cues from the buildings in the surrounding area, mostly old brownstones. 'Stoner reports that locals and preservationists are, unsurprisingly, upset.
