Large Development Aims to Snare Ridgewood Gentrifiers

New, 4 comments

Construction is underway on Essex Capital's 16-26 Madison Street, reportedly the largest in-progress residential development in Ridgewood, Queens. A piece on the project in Crain's also reveals the first rendering, which makes the building appear somewhat hulking and ominous (and also kind of looks like it was painted with watercolors). The 90-unit, 63,000-square-foot foot building, designed by KSQ Architects, will seek to capitalize on Ridgewood's status as one of the New Brooklyns when it is finished in 2016. It will also feature a "unique street-level façade to be designed by yet-undecided local artists," and likely futile effort to make locals not hate it.
