Blackstone Group LP sold the glassy green tower at 1095 Sixth Avenue for $2.2 billion, according to public records that were filed yesterday. The deal was reported to be as high as $2.25 billion, and the buyer is listed as 3BP Property Owner LLC, a venture led by Canadian property investor Ivanhoé Cambridge, according to the Journal. The sale is the second most expensive sale ever of an office building in the United States, falling behind only the $2.8 billion sale of the GM building in pre-Lehman 2008.
