State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, a longtime politician who is no stranger to scandal, is currently facing more unsavory accusations. The Times first reported that he is linked to a law firm that "seeks reductions in city real estate taxes on behalf of its clients." One landlord in particular, Baruch Singer, is its client, and he's also mired in controversy. The latest report says that, thanks to Silver, at least 27 clients of this firm "received state-authorized real estate tax breaks." Formal investigation will likely follow, and it doesn't look good.
