Plans for a residential tower on Fulton Street in the Financial District have been bouncing around since early 2013, and it looks like we might finally know what what will become a reality. New York YIMBY spotted a new building application and a fresh rendering, which show the glassy tower on the Downtown skyline. There was speculation that the tower could rise to 60 or 65 stories (and an animated video supported that rumor), but filings with the Department of Buildings confirm that plans still closely align with what was originally proposed by the Lightstone Group. Carmel Partners, which bought the site from Lightstone last year, plans to construct a 49-story, 574-foot tower with 483 apartments.
Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel will design the building, with SLCE as the architect of record. A sign on the construction fence at the site, where foundation work is ongoing, says it will be complete by fall 2018. Head over to YIMBY for a look at the current state of the property.
