Just three years after he joined SHoP Architects as a partner, Vishaan Chakrabarti (who recently sold his Flatiron loft for $5 million) may be leaving the firm, according to rumors. Several tipsters have reached out saying that the principal, who joined SHoP with an emphasis on large-scale projects, is out at the company. SHoP's website has seemingly been updated to reflect Chakrabarti's departure: His headshot no longer appears with those of the firm's other principals. (Check the before-after, after the jump.) During his tenure there, Chakrabarti worked on high-profile SHoP projects like the Domino Sugar Factory and the curved towers at 626 First Avenue.
If the rumors are true, this would mark the second major departure for the firm in less than a year: Jonathan Mallie, who was a managing principal there, left the firm earlier this year and opened his own design consultancy, JLM, according to his LinkedIn page. We'll update with more information as it becomes available.
