The Fitzroy, the High Line-hugging condo from Roman and Williams, exudes a sort of old Hollywood charm, from its regal name to its old-fashioned terra-cotta exterior. But its inspiration is much older: The building is named after a British military man, Charles Fitzroy, who lived in the Greenwich Village area in the 18th century. He subsequently had a highway named for him, which ran between present-day West 14th Street and West 40th Street along Eighth Avenue. Sales officially launched this week, with apartments starting at $5.2 million for a two-bedroom and going up to $15.875 million for a four-bedroom. Some of the amenities in the building include a fitness room with a yoga and pilates section, and a dry sauna, a wine cellar in each home, a landscaped rooftop lounge with a kitchen and a children's art studio.
